Heartbreaking news for Julia Roberts has emerged.
While filming alongside Ewan McGregor, the 44-year-old actress appeared drastically different from the glamorous Vivian Ward she portrayed in the 1990 classic, Pretty Woman. Stripped of makeup and dressed in unflattering attire, Julia was immersed in her role during the emotional scenes for August: Osage County in Bartsville, Oklahoma.
On set, Julia Roberts and her co-star Ewan McGregor were busy shooting their latest film, August: Osage County, on Thursday.
Delivering a powerful performance, the actress showcased a tearful portrayal. In her personal life, Julia is a mother of three, married to cinematographer Daniel Moder. For her role, she wore a white shirt layered over a cream top, paired with loose blue jeans.
Her long brunette hair was styled in a simple manner as she took on the character of Barbara Weston, a member of a family that confronts their differences when their alcoholic father goes missing.
In a particularly intense scene, Ewan held Julia’s hand with anticipation as they approached a boat dock to identify a deceased body with the Sheriff present.
In a poignant moment, upon seeing the body, Julia broke down in tears, seeking comfort from Ewan’s character, Bill Fordham, as she wept in his embrace.
Despite the emotional weight of the scene, Julia was seen laughing heartily between takes, sharing a light moment with her co-star Julianne Nicholson, who seemed to be sharing a humorous observation with the group.
In keeping with the character, Julia’s attire was casual and unremarkable, consisting of jeans and layered tops for the role of Barbara Weston.
Julianne Nicholson also dressed in a similarly understated manner, wearing a blue shirt and brown flared trousers, with her hair pulled back into a ponytail.
The 2013 film also features notable actors such as Benedict Cumberbatch as ‘Little Charles Aiken’ and Meryl Streep as Violet Weston.Riseborough was initially cast but had to withdraw because of scheduling conflicts. Juliette Lewis took over the role of Karen Weston.
Chloë Moretz auditioned for the part of Jean Fordham but was ultimately outperformed by Abigail Breslin.
In a lighthearted moment, the group seemed to share a good laugh while collaborating with Julianna Nicholson.
